about

This song was written for my daughter and myself during an extreme health crisis. The hospital people kept telling me that I needed to accept the "new normal", and stop hoping for my happy peaceful child to return to her former being. My mothers intuition kept telling me that they were missing something, so we kept fighting for more tests. The journey has continued for 6 years and just now they have found the cause of all the trouble which was an abnormality in her frontal left lobe. This condition has been treated as psychosis and mental illness since she was 6 years old. At 13 now, she has ingested more medications than I have in my entire lifetime, been locked in rubber rooms, thrown handcuffed into police cars, trashed our homes and multiple schools. We JUST found out that it's all due to this small area of her brain that has an abnormality likely formed in the womb. They clipped out piece and she hasn't had a seizure since. Of course nothing can account for the years of trauma, missed schooling, damages to our house, and possible brain damage do to prolonged and untreated seizure activity for so many years...but we can not live in the past.

Why did they not discover the Epilepsy and the brain abnormality all those years ago? Because they didn't do the tests. They thought it was mental health. It took years of advocating for further testing to first discover the Epilepsy, then eventually acquiring a second opinion which led to the tests that I requested years ago that revealed the true ailment. So you see folks....sometime you've got to fight hard for what you believe in..even if the whole world is telling you you're wrong.

Families......trust your instincts and advocate strongly for your kids.
Kids.....don't ever stop believing and striving to be your best self. Stay strong and don't be afraid of hard work.
People .... ever ever give up, love yourselves and each other.

MEAN OLD WIND Suzanne de Bussac 2018

Come and take a little walk with me baby
Time to cool yourself right down
Time to step outside and breathe
Come and have a little talk with me
Maybe it’ll help to lay your burden down
You can lean on me until you need

You’ve got to put one foot in front of the other baby
Plant the other down bolt it down into the gutter
So that mean old wind won’t blow you down
C’mon and kick one heel high into the clouds
Then plant the other down deep into the ground
Don’t let that mean old wind blow you down.

I am on a search for tranquility
maybe I’m going to find it after the seven billionth time
I’ve kissed that cold concrete
Some say that humour is made up of emotional chaos
Remembered in times of inner peace
As fleeting as they seem to be

C’mon and kick one heel high into the clouds
Then plant the other down deep into the ground
Don’t let that mean old wind blow you down
You’ve got to take your lumps, they’re going to come around
We all make mistakes, you can’t let them keep you down
Don’t let that mean old wind blow you down.

I say…don’t let your fury leave you all blurry
In fact, I bet if you wait ten more seconds you might find some kind of clarity
Measure your words, your momentum, it’s all a part of your story
Measure your words your intentions and strive to find inner peace
Inner peace ……..

You’ve got to put one foot in front of the other baby
Plant the other down , bolt it down into the gutter
So that mean old wind won’t blow you down
C’mon and kick one heel high into the clouds
Then plant the other down deep into the ground
Don’t let that mean old wind blow you down.
Oh what’s your story morning glory?
Have I told you that I love you yet today?
Cmon baby
I know you’re gonna make it through just one more day
